Mental strain is an inherent part of aviation. That is why we need psychological expertise that provides careful assessment rather than hasty judgment.
Mental Care AntiSkid (MCA) is an interdisciplinary team of experienced peers and psychological professionals. We are responsible for the professional and organizational management of the AntiSkid program, providing confidential, independent, and peer-to-peer support for aviation employees—from the initial conversation to finding the right assistance.
The MCA clinical supervision team handles the initial psychotherapeutic assessment, coordinates collaboration among all providers, and supports the entire program process. Human Resources & Administration provides organizational support for the clinical supervisors and peers.
AntiSkid began in 1985 with a handful of colleagues who refused to accept that pilots struggling with alcohol issues were left to fend for themselves—and that losing their jobs was the only option.
A small group of pilots founds the network. The first external professional oversight is established. Focus: alcohol.
Treatment for cannabis and other substances is also included. The network is growing, becoming more professional, and gaining recognition among aviation medical examiners and authorities.
AntiSkid now also provides support for mental health challenges beyond addiction, including anxiety, depression, and the aftermath of critical life events. Today, this group accounts for the majority of our cases.
We work across the entire industry, with partners including the Lufthansa Group, TUI fly, Condor, DHL, AeroLogic, DRF, and other flight operators. We collaborate with similar systems abroad and are established as a key point of contact for both EASA and the LBA.
